About Us:

North Hill Vet Clinic, located in the picturesque town of Armidale, is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and experienced Head Veterinary Nurse. Our clinic is housed in a brand-new, state-of-the-art building, designed to provide the highest standard of care to our patients and the utmost comfort to our staff. Facilities include Radiology, 2 surgeries, 4 consults rooms, sterilising room, purpose built treatment area, laboratory and pharmacy. New X-Ray and ultrasound equipment and two senior orthopaedic and BOAS surgeons.

The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to lead our team of skilled veterinary nurses. The Head Veterinary Nurse position is a leadership role that requires a balance of clinical expertise, a willingness to teach others and managerial skill. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations within the nursing team, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, and fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment. North Hill Veterinary Clinic is part of the expanding Apiam Animal Health group of regional and rural clinics that are committed to enriching the lives of animals, people, and communities.

What you’ll need to succeed:  

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Technician Degree is essential
  • 2+ years' experience in a busy practice. Well-rounded nursing skills and experience with training and mentoring other clinical staff
  • Registered Veterinary Nurses are highly regarded.
  • Commitment to promoting a positive workplace culture and continuing to improve and grow our clinic.
  • Willingness to participate in the on call roster
  • Happy to go on occasional large animal call out
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the nursing team, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Ensure exceptional patient care and client service.
  • Coordinate and oversee nursing schedules, including on-call shifts.
  • Maintain and enforce clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and other clinic staff to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Oversee training of new and current nursing staff.
