The CSA Mine is located in Cobar NSW and is Australia’s highest-grade copper mine.

We are located 11 kilometres north-west of Cobar, central western New South Wales. At 1.9 kilometres deep, it is one of Australia’s deepest underground mines.

Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, CSA Mine directly employs over 500 people including contractors.

Are you a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic looking for a rewarding opportunity in the mining industry? Join our team, where you’ll work with a dedicated maintenance crew ensuring the reliability and performance of heavy mobile equipment.

About the Role:

As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for the servicing, repair, and maintenance of a fleet of underground mobile plant equipment, including:

  • Loaders (e.g., CAT R2900, Sandvik LH517)

  • Trucks (e.g., CAT AD45, Sandvik TH663)

  • Drills (e.g., Sandvik DD421, Epiroc Simba E7)

  • Ancillary equipment such as IT loaders, telehandlers, and light vehicles

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues on heavy diesel equipment

  • Perform scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs

  • Conduct inspections to ensure equipment safety and compliance

  • Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to improve fleet reliability

  • Maintain accurate service records and follow site safety procedures

What We’re Looking For:

  • Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic (or equivalent)

  • Experience in underground mining maintenance (preferred but not essential)

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

Conditions: 

Commute options include residential, DIDO or FIFO from Brisbane or Sydney.

Candidates interested in DIDO or FIFO will be provided with commute single accommodation and meals at the mine camp. CSA also provides Pool & Gym Reimbursements to our employees and their dependants.

Located an eight-hour drive to Sydney, nine-hour drive to Melbourne, and a quick three-hour drive to Dubbo, Cobar is a fascinating town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions.
