The opportunity

Hobsons Bay are looking for a proactive and talented HR Business Partner to support our our Infrastructure and City Services Directorate. Working with internal services and customer facing roles including Capital Works, Active Communities and Parks. You will partner with the business to proactively activate all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

What you’ll be working on

In this role you will work closely with managers and employees to ensure that our people practices are aligned with our organisation’s values and goals by:

  • providing advice and support on HR Matters in line with policy and legislation
  • ensuring process compliance regarding grievances and disciplinary action
  • interpreting applicable EA’s and Awards
  • managing recruitment, employee training and development, and performance development cycle
  • undertaking workplace investigations, disciplinary, termination and redundancy processes
  • delivering HR initiatives, projects, and continuous improvement systems, and processes.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Tertiary qualification in HR/IR or demonstrated significant experience.
  • experience in a similar position.
  • Have sound knowledge of contemporary ER/IR practices.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of current industrial relations legislation.
  • Previous experience in identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Well-developed problem solving, advisory and coaching skills, with the ability to create and maintain positive relationships across the organisation and add value through influence and trusted advice.
