About the Role

The Improvement Specialist plays a vital role in leading and supporting quality and improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and organisational performance. This role supports a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation and provides expert coaching and guidance in improvement science and methodology.

You’ll work closely with clinical and non-clinical teams, executives, and consumers to design, implement, and evaluate improvement projects that align with Western Health’s strategic goals and the NSQHS Standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and guide improvement projects using the IHI Model for Improvement and PDSA methodology.
  • Support teams to identify challenges, analyse root causes, and co-design effective change strategies.
  • Deliver capability-building activities including training, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Provide improvement governance, project tracking, and executive reporting.
  • Champion engagement with consumers and frontline staff.

About You

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in health, social sciences, or related field.

  • Proven experience in leading quality improvement or service redesign initiatives.

  • Strong capability in stakeholder engagement and facilitation.

  • Experience applying IHI improvement methodology in clinical environments.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated project management and analytical ability.

  • Understanding of the public healthcare system and NSQHS Standards.


Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in public health, healthcare management, or improvement science.

  • Experience in large health services or similar roles in the sector.
