Injury Management Specialist
Spinal Life Australia is a non-profit organisation that provides expert knowledge, specialist therapies and supports tailored for people with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities. We're the largest provider of support services to people living with spinal cord injury in Australia. Our opportunity: We are currently seeking an Injury Management Specialist who will take responsibility for managing Spinal Life Australia’s workers compensation claims, injury management & prevention. This is a 6-month max term full-time role based at our Head Office at Woolloongabba.
Role responsibilitiesManage worker’s compensation claims to decrease lost time impact to the business and influence the successful reduction of workers compensation insurance premiums.Liaising with injured workers, managers, workers' compensation insurer and health providers to identify suitable duties and provide best return to work outcomes for injured workers and assist claim finalisation.Co-ordinate Incident Reporting, Injury Management and Return to Work programs for injured employees.Recommend and Implement strategies to reduce workers compensation claims and costs.Assist recruitment in mitigating risk through implementing appropriate pre-employment assessments and strategies.Maintain the WHS management system and contributes to the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of safety initiatives that ensures a healthy & safe environment for all.Develop, identify and/or deliver injury prevention and management training to new staff and refresher training to existing staff.
Your skills & experience:Extensive experience in managing complex claims with positive outcomes.Experience in providing leadership, guidance, and advice on injury management to effect improvements in health, safety, and wellbeing performances.Experience in QLD Workers compensation scheme, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of WA Workers compensation schemeAbility to build rapport with varying stakeholders including employees, managers, Workcover and health professionals.A current return to work co-ordinator certification.Knowledge of WHS compliance, legislation, and guidelinesPrevious experience working in the non-profit sector and/or providing services for the people funded under the National Disability Insurance Scheme is desirable. You'll also need to:Hold or willing to obtain a NDIS Workers Screening & Blue CardComplete NDIS Worker Orientation Module (Certificate given on Completion!)
