We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Qualified Carpenter with expertise in detailed custom joinery and fit-outs for commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of post-trade school experience and a diverse skill set in carpentry, plastering, tiling, and caulking. The role involves working on various commercial projects, installing high-quality custom joinery, wall paneling, and other specialized carpentry tasks, ensuring all work meets the high standards MJ Projects is known for.

Task & Responsibilities
- Study and Interpret Drawings: Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications to determine the materials required and dimensions for the project.
- Material Selection and Ordering: Order and select appropriate timbers, materials, and tools, preparing detailed layouts as needed for installations.
- Custom Joinery Installation: Install custom kitchens, wardrobes, storage units, and other bespoke joinery for commercial settings, ensuring a flawless finish.
- Wall Panelling Installation: Set up, pack, and install wall panels with precision, ensuring they meet design specifications.
- Construction and Framework: Erect framework and roof framing, lay sub-flooring, floorboards, and verify the structure’s accuracy.
- Exterior and Interior Finishes: Nail fascia panels, sheathe roofs, fit external cladding, and install door and window frames.
- Concrete Formwork and Repairs: Construct concrete formwork when required, and repair existing fittings and structures, ensuring longevity and durability.
- Material Handling: Work with a variety of materials, including wood, plastic laminates, Perspex, and metals for custom fittings and repairs.
- Technology Use: Utilize various apps and systems for project tracking, updates, and communication, ensuring accurate records and efficiency in project management.
Qualification & Experience
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of post-trade school experience in carpentry, with a focus on custom joinery and commercial fit-outs.
- Education: AQF Certificate III (including 2 years on-the-job training) or AQF Certificate IV in Carpentry or related trade qualification.
- Attention to Detail: Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on quality and precision in every task performed.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret detailed shop drawings and construction plans.
- Multiskilled: Proficient in carpentry, plastering, tiling, caulking, and other relevant skills.
- Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Self-Sufficient: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Tools and Equipment: Must have a trade-appropriate vehicle, tools, and a current Australian driver’s licence.
