We are seeking a passionate and skilled Prep Chef to join our team and contribute to our culinary success.
Job Summary:
The Prep Chef is a crucial member of our kitchen team, responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely preparation of ingredients and components for our Lebanese breakfast menu. This role requires a strong understanding of Lebanese cuisine, excellent knife skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and hygiene.
Responsibilities:
- Ingredient Preparation:
- Prepare a wide range of ingredients, including vegetables, herbs, meats, and doughs, according to established recipes and standards.
- Wash, peel, chop, slice, and dice ingredients with precision and efficiency.
- Measure and mix ingredients accurately, ensuring consistency in flavor and quality.
- Prepare fillings for mana'eesh, pastries, and other baked goods.
- Prepare dips and spreads such as hummus, baba ghanoush, and labneh.
- Prepare Foul and other hot breakfast items components.
- Bakery Assistance:
- Assist with the preparation of doughs and batters for bread, pastries, and mana'eesh.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of bakery ingredients.
- Assist with baking and proofing processes as needed.
- Kitchen Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Properly store and label all prepared ingredients.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Dispose of waste appropriately.
- Inventory Management:
- Assist with inventory control and stock rotation.
- Report any shortages or discrepancies to the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
- Inform the kitchen manager of needed supplies.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly and respectfully with colleagues.
- Assist other kitchen staff as needed.
- Follow the instructions of the head chef.
- Adherence to Standards:
- Follow all recipes and preparation procedures consistently.
- Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Prep Chef or similar role, preferably in a Lebanese or Middle Eastern cuisine setting.
- Strong knowledge of Lebanese ingredients and cooking techniques.
- Excellent knife skills and food preparation techniques.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions precisely.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- A passion for Lebanese cuisine.
- Ability to work early mornings.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 25 kg).
- Ability to work in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.
