My client is a cutting-edge company who due to continuous growth are looking for an experienced Machine Shop Manager to join their business in the South Eastern suburbs.
This role is responsible for the overall performance and profitability of the Precision Machining business unit, resource management, continuous improvement, and ensuring the effective execution of production processes. The Machine Shop Manager not only lead the team but also roll up their sleeves—operate CNC machines, provide technical support, and help train and mentor the team day-to-day. Someone who leads by example on the shop floor
Lead and ensure the Precision Machining business unit consistently meets and exceeds production targets and KPIs, focusing on:
Production rates, scrap rates, delivery times, and cost management.Optimising the production schedule to maintain a steady workflow and improve overall efficiency.Driving cost-effective production processesImplementing and monitoring production strategies to continuously improve performance.
Resource Management & Team Development Develop and inspire a high-performing, self-organised team.Continuously evaluate the resources (human and material) needed to meet production goals and optimise workflow.Collaborate on staffing requirements, ensuring timely acquisition of additional resources as needed.Lead the acquisition and integration of new plant and equipment to enhance operational capacity and efficiency.Conduct performance reviews and implement targeted development plans, ensuring team members are continuously learning and progressing in their roles.Organise and promote training programs to develop technical skills and leadership capabilities across the team.
Leadership & Collaboration Collaborate with senior management to establish and implement company-wide objectives, policies, and initiatives.Actively contribute to the identification and development of new products, services, and distribution channels that enhance customer satisfaction and support business growth.Regularly communicate with the management team, providing updates on key developments, challenges, and successes within the Precision Machining business unit.

Qualification: Diploma / Trade or tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (Manufacturing, Management, Production, Mechanical Engineering, etc.).
Skills and Experience: Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in a leadership role within a technical or complex manufacturing environment.Deep understanding of CNC machining processes, best practices, and production methodologies and practices.

Desired Experience with developing and managing visual dashboards and reporting.Familiarity with industry-specific standards and certifications related to high precision components is highly desirable
