Position Summary:
This position is responsible for attending plant and equipment breakdowns, completing scheduled routine preventative maintenance and providing technical assistance within a continuous improvement environment to optimise the manufacturing process.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Analyse, develop and implement programs for plant optimisation, including but not limited to, downtime reduction to drive towards new targets, future expansion, new equipment implementation and commissioning, equipment improvements and on going continuous improvement programs
- Follow maintenance planning schedules in order to maximise quality production output
- Maintain and develop computer driven manufacturing equipment and control systems
- Apply mechanical solutions to the automatic transfer of material, components or finished goods
- Develop creative solutions, within the bounds of fundamental principles, technical standards, and safety limits, to come up with best practice manufacturing processes
- Provide assistance and training to plant operators for equipment maintenance and use
- Assist in developing tests / fixtures for components and finished products to ensure the product meets quality standards and operating requirements
- Build working relationships with production operators to identify and solve technical problems
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers
- Take full accountability for personal safety and well-being, develop an understanding of risk minimisation and be committed to achieving the highest possible standards for Safety, Health and the Environment (SH&E)
- Communicate and endorse safety practices, monitor key safety performance indicators and visibly participate in promoting safety policies and initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Trade qualified Maintenance Fitter
- 3+ years of experience with mechanical fixed plant
- Expertise in hydraulic fault diagnosis
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and steel fabrication
- Ability to work shift patterns
- Capability to interpret hydraulic and pneumatic drawings
Desirable:
- Formal hydraulic qualifications
- Forklift licence
