Maintenance / Handyperson

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance / Handyperson to join our team at the Matthew Flinders Hotel in Chadstone, VIC. As a casual employee, you will be responsible for maintaining the hotel's facilities and ensuring the premises are well-kept and in good working order. This is a key role that contributes to the overall guest experience and the smooth operation of our venue & grounds.

What you'll be doing

• Perform general maintenance and repair tasks such as fixing plumbing issues, electrical work, painting, and carpentry

• Carry out regular inspections of the hotel's facilities and grounds, identifying and addressing any issues in a timely manner

• Assist with set-up and packdown of events and functions held at the Hotel

• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with relevant safety standards and regulations

• Collaborate with the hotel management team to develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies

• Provide support to the housekeeping and cleaning teams as needed

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in a similar maintenance or handyperson role, ideally in the hospitality industry

• Strong practical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve a variety of maintenance-related issues

• Working knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry principles

• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills

• A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

• Good communication skills and the ability to interact with hotel staff and guests
