Your Role

As the Manager City Future, you will be at the forefront of strategic and operational management for the City Future Business Unit. Reporting to the Director Planning and Development, you will lead initiatives in Economic Development, Strategic Planning, Projects, and Environmental Health. Your role will involve:

Your Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing annual Business Unit plans, progress reports, and budgets.
  • Contributing to strategic plans for issue-based projects.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant statutes, regulations, by-laws, and Council resolutions.
  • Leading and mentoring Business Unit employees, setting performance objectives, and monitoring progress.
  • Facilitating partnerships and alliances on urban planning projects with key stakeholders.
  • Acting as Director Planning and Development when required.
  • Managing the implementation of the Council’s vision through clear action strategies and project management plans.
  • Preparing reports, council submissions, and presentations as needed.
  • Ensuring high standards of customer service and community engagement in urban planning and economic development projects

About You

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to establish and communicate innovative strategies.
  • Highly developed communication skills, including verbal presentation, report writing, and community engagement.
  • Financial management skills, including budget development and management.
  • Excellent knowledge of town planning legislation and statutory town planning processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management of strategic initiatives in urban planning, economic development, and business support

  • National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months)
