What you'll be doing:

As the Manager, Commercial Compliance at Virgin Australia, you'll serve as the organization's principal authority on Fares & Ticketing, providing authoritative oversight, governance, and executive guidance on all aspects of Fares & Ticketing implementation across our systems and processes. This role is the recognized expert across the organization for ensuring commercial compliance, with a direct line to Executive leadership and Board-level committees.

This role sits within the Commercial department reporting into the Distribution & NGR team where ticketing & fares expertise reside. You'll leverage your deep industry knowledge to shape policies and ensure Virgin Australia maintains commercial integrity across all operations.

You'll be great in this role if you...

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in commerce, business or have equivalent experience, with Fares and Ticketing 1 and 2 (or equivalent) credentials
  • Bring five+ years of experience in airline or travel agency commercial areas such as Revenue Management, Digital or IT, or Pricing
  • Demonstrate ability to engage and lead internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership
  • Have expertise in ATPCO fare filing and advanced knowledge of Sabre PSS/GDS systems
  • Excel in change management delivery with proven success implementing compliance frameworks
  • Can operate autonomously while effectively leading and developing junior team members
  • Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable insights
  • Navigate ambiguity through strategic scenario planning and risk management approaches
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen with the ability to use data in driving decisions that align with business strategies
  • Have influencing skills to drive compliance across the organization without direct authority
  • Apply strategic thinking to anticipate and mitigate compliance risks before they materialize
  • Have strong knowledge of industry platforms and Microsoft Office applications

Desirable but not essential...

  • Master's degree in business or related field
  • Advanced IATA certifications including proration
  • Experience in travel agency management
  • Knowledge of air product distribution systems
  • Strong relationships with industry partners and vendors
  • Background in management consulting
  • Expertise in governance framework development
  • Process improvement experience
  • Project management skills
  • Understanding of airline distribution systems
  • Experience with Board-level governance processesm
