About Strathfield Council
Strathfield Council (Council) is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.
About the Role
The Manager, Governance & Procurement is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for Council’s governance, strategic procurement, Council meetings, business papers, councillor support, and internal audit functions.
This role will oversee the development and implementation of Council’s policy framework, ensuring appropriate delegations are established and maintained in line with statutory requirements.
The successful candidate will drive the implementation and ongoing improvement of organisational controls and administrative procedures to support best practice service delivery, in alignment with good governance principles, legislative obligations, and Council’s Delivery Program and Operational Plan.

Shortlisting
Shortlisting will occur in two phases:
Phase 1: Candidates will be initially assessed to determine suitability for progression to Phase 2.
Phase 2: Selected candidates will be invited to complete an activity prior to being considered for final shortlisting. This will involve completing a task and recording a short video presentation outlining their response.
The total time commitment for this activity is expected to be approximately 30 minutes.
The outcome of this phase will determine progression to the interview stage.
