Position Summary
The Production Engineer will work in Dingley Village, Victoria and is responsible for overseeing and improving manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness in the production of precision testing equipment. The role involves process optimisation, troubleshooting production issues, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and collaborating with design and quality teams to enhance product performance and manufacturability.
Location – Melbourne (Dingley Village)
Annual Salary: $73,150 to $80,000 plus superannuation
Key Responsibilities
• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes for precision testing equipment.
• Work closely with design and R&D teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Troubleshoot production issues and develop corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements related to precision testing equipment manufacturing.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for production processes.
• Identify and implement automation and process improvements to enhance production capacity.
• Conduct root cause analysis for defects and implement preventive measures.
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with specifications.
• Train and support production staff in new technologies, processes, and best practices.
• Work with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of materials and components.
• Monitor production metrics and implement strategies to achieve efficiency targets.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in a production engineering role, preferably in the precision equipment manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, electrical wiring, automation, and quality control principles.
• Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and manufacturing-related software (ERP/MES systems).
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 9001.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across departments.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
• Knowledge of precision testing equipment design and manufacturing.
• Experience in automation and robotics in a manufacturing environment.
• Certifications in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Project Management.
