About the Role Due to the continued growth of our business, we are looking for qualified Mechanical Tradespeople to join our local team in Lytton, QLD.
As a Mechanical Fitter at the Ampol Refinery, your daily scope of work will be heavily involved in the exchanger program, assisting with the ongoing production maintenance of the plant.
This includes tasks such as:
- Opening and preparing heat exchangers for inspection and cleaning
- Disassembling and reassembling components
- Supporting high-pressure cleaning crews, and ensuring all work is performed safely and to specification.
You will also assist with the maintenance of various reactors across the site, perform isolations, adhere to isolation and permit-to-work systems, and contribute to both preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
Communication with the Leading Hand and Supervisor is essential for task updates, reporting equipment conditions, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.)
Duties will include but not limited to:
- Flange Management.
- Internal column & vessel mechanical execution including removal and installation of complex internal tray compositions.
- Heat Exchanger maintenance services.
- Hy-Torque and Tensioning.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and P&ID’s.
- Ability to work within a team environment while capable of working unsupervised.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent Communication skills.
- Strong commitment to Work Health and Safety including participating in safety documentation requirements.
Requirements & Experience Needed
- 2+ years' experience working on heavy industry, shutdowns and preventative maintenance.
- Ability to work shift work (Day/Night/Weekends).
- Oil & Gas industry experience is desirable.
- Construction Induction (White Card) (essential).
- Possess formal Trade Qualifications as a Mechanical Fitter & Turner or an equivalent recognized Mechanical trade certificate.
- Flange Management Training (advantageous).
- Working at Heights certificate (within 2 years - essential).
- Confined Space Entry certificate (within 2 years - essential).
- Gas Test Atmosphere certificate (within 2 years – essential.
- Breathing Apparatus certificate (desirable).
- Current Drivers Licence (highly desirable).
- High Risk Work Licence - LF/Dogman/Rigger (advantageous).
- Full Australian work rights.
