We are a BUSY and FAST PACED Ophthalmology practice seeking a confident individual to join our friendly team on a permanent/part time basis (approx. 30-35 hours a week), with the flexibility to relieve annual and sick leave.

The practice is seeking to appoint a Medical Receptionist to our team based both in the CBD and our clinic on Marion Road.

Role
The role of Medical Receptionist forms a vital part of the patient care process by providing a warm, friendly and professional experience for our patients.

Candidates must be flexible with working hours. As this position requires availability from 7.30am-7pm, it may not be suitable for individuals currently studying.

The successful applicant must have the ability to multi-task and have exceptional computer skills. Previous medical/ophthalmic experience will be highly regarded.  

Specific tasks include:
Welcoming patients to the practice
Entering patient information into the computer system
Invoicing and receipting both through Medicare and health insurance companies
Booking patient appointments 
Answering incoming calls on a busy switchboard
General office duties

Candidate
Preference will be given to candidates with Medical/Ophthalmology experience. However, applications will be welcome from people who have some medical experience (particularly with billings).

Preferably, you will be expected to have experience in a medical environment underpinned by a good knowledge of medical and/or ophthalmic terminology.

Other skills and personal attributes essential for success in the role include:

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, enabling quick rapport with patients and fellow staff members
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Good attention to detail is a must
  • Available for one early start (7.30am) and one late finish (7pm) per week
