Medical Receptionist/Administration – Specialist Practice

Location: Camperdown

Hours: 4–5 days per week (minimum 3 days onsite)

Salary: $30-40/hour (commensurate with experience)

Start Date: Immediate

We are a leading specialist clinic seeking an experienced, friendly, compassionate, and capable Medical Receptionist & Patient Liaison to join our new, friendly and fast-paced team. This role involves medical reception, administrative support, and direct patient engagement, with preference given to candidates who brings medical administration experience—though this is not essential for the right applicant.

We are a busy new specialist practice located within a hospital, working with established senior consultant specialists. The friendly supportive team also includes a practice manager and two other hybrid admin staff supporting experienced specialists and providing compassionate patient centred care.

The role would suit someone organised, friendly, able to work independently with excellent communication skills. The role involves reception and medical administration tasks, liaising with hospitals and clinics, assisting specialists 1:1, and liaising directly with patients. This role would suit someone with previous medical admin experience looking to build on their skills.

The role would suit either part time 32 hours or full time up to 40 hours. The role requires 3 days minimum onsite in camperdown when clinics running but additional days could be onsite or hybrid.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Front desk reception and welcoming patients face-to-face and over the phone

  • Scheduling appointments, managing recalls, and coordinating referrals

  • Handling specialist billing, invoicing, and Medicare/ECLIPSE claims using Gentu

  • Serving as a key point of contact for patients, offering support and information

  • Liaising with doctors, hospitals, and external providers to support continuity of care

  • Maintaining electronic medical records and managing clinical workflows

  • Supporting the daily operations of a busy private practice with professionalism and care

  • Managing specialist meetings and calendars

  • Liaising with pharmaceutical and device representatives

  • Directly assisting specialists

  • Maintaining telemedicine systems

We’re Looking For Someone With:

  • Prior experience in medical reception and administration, ideally in a specialist practice

  • Strong working knowledge of IT systems with ideal candidate having experience with Gentu and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • A compassionate and patient-focused approach to care

  • Strong work ethic

  • The ability to work independently while thriving as part of a friendly dynamic supportive team

  • Ability to take initiative and responsibility

  • A calm, reliable, and professional manner in a fast-paced environment

  • Consistently reliable, efficient, and focused on delivering high-quality work

  • A current Working With Children Check (WWCC)

  • Full vaccination status in line with healthcare requirements

Preferred (but not essential):

  • Senior administrative experience in a medical or allied health setting

  • Familiarity with neurology, oncology or complex care coordination

  • Understanding of Medicare item numbers and referral workflows in Australia

  • Experience with Gentu

Join our dynamic and collaborative team committed to delivering expert care with warmth and efficiency.

We offer a positive inclusive working culture, and new yet established systems, as well as opportunities to grow your skills within a high-functioning and expanding clinic.
