About the Business

Catalyst Metals owns and operates the Plutonic Gold Mine in the Eastern Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The Company produces 110koz of gold annually from two operations – the Plutonic Gold Mine in WA & the Henty Gold Mine in Australia. It also holds the Four Eagles Gold Project in Bendigo.

The Company plans to bring four new mining areas at Plutonic into production over the next 12 to 18 months, growing Group production to 200koz of gold.

Working a 8:6 roster, departing from Perth you'll fly directly to Plutonic arriving within 90mins of departure. Once onsite you are accommodated in a well-established camp that boasts a substantial gym, squash courts, multipurpose court, pool, modern ensuite rooms, just to list some of the facilities.

The Role

Be an integral part of a dynamic team, in a complex geological setting, applying all the geoscience you can think of to ensure the most efficient and effective extraction of the orebody, i.e. be a real geologist or learn to be one from a very experienced and supportive supervisory team.

Reporting to the Senior Geologist – Mine, the Geologist - Mine will collect primary geological information and perform underground and surface geological activities including face mapping, core logging, sampling and QA/QC of results to inform, set and meet production plans and targets in the safe, efficient and cost-effective process of extraction and growth of the mineral reserve.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervision of ore extraction to minimise dilution and maximise recovery
  • Production duties such as mapping, sampling, and core logging to guide underground development into an optimum position.
  • Provide direction for each face of the underground development headings.
  • Ensuring the accurate tracking of ore from the mine to ROM
  • Provide accurate daily production data/reporting as required
  • Monitor QA/QC of sampling and assaying processes
  • Maintain high levels of communication between geological personnel, engineers, surveyors and operational personnel on site

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Bachelor of Science, majoring in Geology
  • Current “C” class drivers licence
  • Experience working within an underground mine is preferred (ideally gold)
  • Proficiency in 3D geology software such as SURPAC, Vulcan, Leapfrog
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal communication skills
  • Personal drive, an ability to prioritise workload, work autonomously and with a wide range of key stakeholders is essential
  • Good communication skills.
