Join a leading Federal Government agency in Canberra as a Network Engineer, supporting critical global infrastructure and secure communications systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-performance team where innovation, collaboration, and cybersecurity are key priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide Level 2 & 3 operational support for a global network infrastructure.Install, configure, and maintain Cisco and Fortinet network platforms including FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAuthenticator, and FortiAnalyzer.Manage Data Centre Networking, SD-WAN, VPN Remote Access, and Wi-Fi deployments.Ensure ongoing monitoring using tools like SolarWinds or equivalent.Maintain system documentation, disaster recovery guides, and SOPs.Research and implement improvements in hardware, software, and network processes.Ensure all work aligns with ISM guidelines to maintain a Maturity Level 2 security posture.Participate in an on-call roster for after-hours support when required.
Technical Skills & Experience Required:
Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Fortinet, Cisco, and Microsoft Azure networking technologies.Proficiency in protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, QoS/DSCP, DMVPN/ADVPN.Experience with SNMPv3, NetFlow, AVC, NBAR and advanced network monitoring tools.Familiarity with encryption and authentication technologies: IPSEC/IKE, 802.1x, RADIUS, TACACS+, SSL/TLS, EAP.Proven experience troubleshooting global communications networks in complex environments.Awareness and experience in implementing cybersecurity controls and remediating vulnerabilities
Desirable Qualifications:
Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) or equivalent.Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline. To be considered for this opportunity you must hold Australian Citizenship and active NV1 clearance.
