    About the Role:

    This is an exciting opportunity to join the dedicated nursing team at the Lyell McEwin Hospital as a Nurse Unit Manager. Ward 2B is a 28 bed ward, specialising in providing care for acute surgical, breast endocrine, upper gastrointestinal and gastroenterology patients. It also has an outpatient treatment room where one patient per day (Monday to Friday) attends for an acetic tap procedure.

    We are seeking applicants from experienced surgical nurses who want to use their knowledge and experience to manage and lead the established nursing staff team within 2B. The NUM position has the support of two Associate Nurse Unit Manager positions, a Surgical Nurse Educator and a Clinical Nurse Educator. 

    Key responsibilities of this role include:

    • Lead and manage the nursing team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
    • Oversee the daily operations of the ward, ensuring efficient and effective patient care.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
    • Monitor and evaluate clinical practices to ensure compliance with hospital policies and NSQHS standards.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in patient care.

    To be eligible for this position, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practising certificate.
