About the role
The Adult Acute Inpatient Unit provides 24 hour bed based voluntary and compulsory short-term inpatient treatment for consumers during an acute phase of mental illness and/or consumers in crisis who are unable to be cared for safely in the community. The multi-disciplinary team (MDT) work within a biopsychosocial frame to provide recovery oriented treatment and interventions that are focused on transitioning consumers safely back into the community.
All our grade ones are fully supported by a grade two occupational therapist working on the same ward or closely in the same department. You have regular supervision and professional development to build the skills needed to be an independent therapist. The Grade one occupational therapist competently provides occupational therapy assessments and interventions for patients/clients in the most appropriate environment to promote safe and effective discharges and prevent readmission.

*Please refer to salary circular VICTORIAN PUBLIC MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT 2021 - 2024 for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
