About the role

The Women’s is Australia’s leading independent specialist hospital for women dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of women of all ages and cultures, and newborn infants. The Women’s is a major teaching hospital with strong affiliations to the University of Melbourne, with research and education integral to its role. The Women’s serves an annual cohort of 80,000 patients, delivering more than 7,000 babies. The Women’s is the tertiary referral centre for high-risk obstetric patients in Melbourne and further afield in the state of Victoria and Australia-wide.

Career Medical Officers in Obstetrics and Gynaecology are responsible for the provision of excellent clinical care to women who are outpatients or inpatients of the Royal Women’s Hospital and their babies and families.

This position is ongoing with a one-year probation period.

About you

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification
  • Medical Practitioner Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Experience in birth suite, inpatient and outpatient obstetrics as well as obstetric and gynaecological emergencies
  • Strong patient care focus
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Team player in multidisciplinary setting
  • Commitment to developing specialised skills in the area of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

The Classification and Salary scale will be dependent on experience and you will be appointed and in accordance to the  AMA Victoria – Victorian Public Health Sector – Doctors in Training Enterprise Agreement 2022-2026.
