About Us
Retinology Institute is a private ophthalmology practice situated in Glen Iris, Melbourne.
The clinic sub-specialises in the diagnosis and management of vitreo-retinal disorders, and is a combined clinical and research practice directed by leading consultant vitreoretinal ophthalmologist, Associate Professor Wilson Heriot, and joined by medical retina consultant, Doctor Thomas Gin.
About the role
Job requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in Orthoptics, and registration with Australian Orthoptics Board.
Current membership with Orthoptics Australia is desirable, but not essential
Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Experience in a retinal clinic is desirable.
Computer literacy. The clinic uses the electronic medical record system, VIP, and knowledge of the system would be an advantage.
Ability to work in a busy environment. The clinic will require strong clinical reasoning and organisational skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
Duties include:
Standard Orthoptic patient work-up (Patient history, BCVA, Subjective Refraction, Colour Testing etc.)
Tonometry (iCare, Goldmann).
OCT and OCTA (Heidelberg Spectralis HRA+OCT).
Fundus Photography (Zeiss CLARUS and DRS).
FFA and ICG angiography (Heidelberg Spectralis).
Assisting in the set-up of intravitreal injections and minor procedures.
Perimetry Testing including Humphrey visual field and MAIA microperimetry.
Cataract work-up including Ascan (Anterion, IOL Master, Immersion and contact, when required), iTrace and Auto refraction.
Assisting in post-operative care of patients.
Assisting in stock control, inventory and ordering.
Assisting administration team with patient triaging.
Setting up consultation rooms.
Potential involvement in clinical trials and clinical auditing.
The position is available on a permanent part-time or casual basis on a rotating roster. Remuneration will be based on experience.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor of Health Science/Orthoptics or Master in Orthoptics or equivalent. You must also have a current Police Check or be willing to undergo a check.
