Painting Trades Worker

The Client Gogoani Painting & Decorating Pty Ltd is a reputable professional painting services company located in Maddingley in VIC. They now seek an experienced Painting Trades Worker to join their team to service Tarneit, VIC and surrounding suburbs. The Role This is a full time salary with an annual salary set between $73,500 to $75,000 depending on experience plus superannuation. Responsibilities Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel and other finishes to surfaces using spray guns, brushes or rollers.Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces such as bare wood or metal for finish coats.Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements and/or work orders.Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.Fill cracks, holes and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.Mix and match colours of paint, stain or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colours and consistencies.Clean surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper.Polish final coats to specified finishes.Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors or homeowners in order to determine work requirements.Spray or brush hot plastics or pitch onto surfaces.Use special finishing techniques such as sponging, ragging, layering or faux finishing.Waterproof buildings using water proofers and caulking.Maintain correct record and general recordkeeping.Follow established protection procedures.Clean up the job site after work and return equipment and tools.Maintain a clean work environment.Put up scaffolding or setting up ladders to perform tasks above ground levelWash surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover, using brushApply wallpaper fabricsEstimating costs involved and negotiating prices Requirements AQF Certificate III relevant qualificationsRelevant experience and skillset to perform aforementioned dutiesAt least 1 year experience in a residential painting role in the painting and decorating industryAt least 1 year experience in a wide range of painting techniques, including faux finishes, marbling, graining, and frescoAt least 1 year experience in chemical stripping, abrasive blasting, and power washing techniques for surface preparationConstruction induction cardGood understanding of colour theory and various finish typesPhysical dexterity to climb ladders, carry heavy equipment and to stand for long periods of timeAdditional tickets, EWP and relevant licenses will be looked upon favourably
