PART-TIME DISABILITY SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL – WAHROONGA

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Willing to work sleepovers and active nights shifts.
  • Willingness to participate in shift work including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • Required to hold an NSW Driver’s License (P2/Full)
  • Willingness to drive a Unisson vehicle.
  • High levels of enthusiasm, initiative, and a positive attitude.
  • Emotional intelligence, resilience, and capacity to perform the work required.
  • Prior experience working with people with disabilities or in a similar role (desirable)
  • Certificate III and/or IV in Disability and prior experience (desirable)
About The PositionWe are looking for a motivated, caring and suitability skilled person to provide support for a group of clients with intellectual disabilities living within homes in Wahroonga. The clients enjoy exploring with sensory activities, cooking, arts & craft, spending time with families and enjoy community activities. They require support with complex behaviours and assistance in engaging in meaningful activities.

The Responsibilities Of The Position Include

  • Support and encourage clients to participate in activities within the home and in the wider community.
  • Support clients with their personal care (toileting, showering, grooming and dressing) where this is part of the client’s person-centred plan.
  • Use the manual handling techniques that are specified in a client’s comprehensive person-centred plan.
  • Transport a client to appointments or activities as required in vehicles or on public transport.
  • Support each client and interact with their family members and other stakeholders respecting their dignity, cultural background and religious beliefs.
  • Be part of developing, implementing, keeping records and reviewing each client’s comprehensive person-centred plan and behaviour support plan.
  • Work co-operatively as part of a team and treat all colleagues with respect.
  • Respond to all incidents and injuries in accordance with Unisson’s policies and procedures and the NDIS Quality Safeguards Standards.
