Location: Pharmacy for Life Wurtulla

Reports To: Aged care Pharmacist

Job Summary:

Pharmacy for Life Wurtulla is looking for a Part-Time Pharmacy Technician to join our supportive and professional Aged Care Team. This role is crucial in ensuring patients receive their medications accurately and on time. As part of our dedicated team, you will assist in the preparation and packing of dose administration aids (DAAs) while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys structured tasks, working with technology, and ensuring the safe supply of medications to aged care facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Medication Packing & Dispensing

  • Accurately pack and label medications in dose administration aids (DAAs).
  • Assist the pharmacist in preparing and checking packed medications to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and safety protocols.
  • Filling DTA Trays – Preparing DTA trays for the automated packing robot
  • Managing Canister Changes & Refilling – Ensuring medication canisters are correctly stocked, refilled, and maintained to support smooth robot operation

Stock Management & Organisation

  • Maintain adequate stock levels for packing supplies and medications.
  • Monitor expiry dates and assist with stock rotation to minimise waste.
  • Keep packing areas clean, organised, and compliant with pharmacy standards.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Follow PBS and pharmacy practice guidelines when handling medications.
  • Assist with record-keeping and quality control of packed medication orders.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in patient records and documentation.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with our supportive and professional aged care team to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacists and team members to meet patient needs.
  • Contribute to a positive and efficient team environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

✔ Certificate III in Community Pharmacy or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
✔ Previous experience in pharmacy or medication packing (desirable).
High attention to detail and accuracy in handling medications.
✔ Strong organisational skills and ability to work efficiently.
Team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.

Comfortable working with automation and pharmacy technology
✔ Familiarity with pharmacy software Z Dispense is a plus.
