Townsville Hospital and Health Service, is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island. We operate 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.

Townsville University Hospital, the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, provides specialist referral services for 700,000 people living in the region.

In this Patient Services Officer role you will provide administration support within the Townsville University Hospital. The role encompasses shiftwork including afternoon shifts, weekends and public holidays.

About the opportunity
Position:
Patient Services Officer - Demand Response Unit
Vacancy: Fixed Term Temporary Part-time up to 30/06/2025, 56 hours per fortnight (with the possibility of extension - not exceeding 12 months in total)
Location: Wards Administration, Townsville University Hospital

What's on offer?
Pro rata remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value of up to $8138 p.m.

  • Salary range: $38.81 - $43.16 p.h. (AO3)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

About the role

  • Deliver exceptional person-centred customer service to patients, their families, and the public, assisting and directing patients, visitors, and colleagues in an effective and courteous manner.
  • Build good relationships with patients, their families and work colleagues by using strong communication and negotiation skills to understand customers' needs and deliver a service that meets their needs with adherence to policy and standards.
  • Access and utilise a wide variety of relevant patient and corporate information systems to accurately record all demographic and other mandatory patient information relative to work environment.
