About the position:
Reporting directly to the Group People and Culture Manager in South Australia, however working closely with the Chief People Officer, who is based in Sydney. This role is a hands on and operational role, yet has opportunity to provide strategic input.  

Basically a champion operator that is looking to take on a heavy workload, grow, learn and be thrown in the deep end from time to time, with full support. The remit of this role is wide in nature, which spans across IR, ER and Culture elements across the group. Some example below (with less fluffy HR Jargon):

  • Create and carry out HR plans that support the company’s overall goals.
  • Give practical advice on hiring, workforce planning, performance issues, change processes and IR/ER related issues.
  • Participate in staffing issues, including complaints, disputes, and underperformance.
  • Make sure the organisation follows employment laws, awards, agreements, and safety rules.
  • Run programs that improve workplace culture and keep staff engaged.
  • Help with business changes, team mergers, and managing workforce risks.
  • Assist the GP&C Manager and CPO with matters before the Fair Work Commission and other external bodies.

What you need to succeed
Essential:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Senior HR Officer or Business Partner role.
  • Solid knowledge of employment laws and hands-on experience managing change in complex industrial relations settings. We're not unionised, but experience with union environments is a plus.
  • Strong skills in communication, mediation, facilitation, and negotiation.
  • Able to build and maintain good working relationships at all levels of the business.
  • Values fairness, honesty, and transparency in how HR is done.
  • Confident leading teams and encouraging new ideas and better ways of working.
  • Works well with senior leaders and can help shape big-picture decisions.
