As a Performance Advisor, you will oversee and manage the performance regime of the Victorian Road Maintenance Contracts across Victoria. You will drive contractor performance by monitoring progress and performance against KPIs, identifying areas for improvement, and providing timely feedback to Contractors. In this role, you will:

  • Make informed decisions and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain performance standards
  • Create detailed performance reports for key stakeholders
  • Encourage continuous improvement and the adoption of best practices and innovative solutions

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities

  • Contract Execution – Has provided professional expertise to ensure the successful execution of the Victorian Road Maintenance Contracts across Victoria, and that they provide best value and quality in line with relevant legislation and quality standards.
  • Continuous Improvement – Has exercised professional independent judgement to develop innovative solutions to complex problems related to risk management, commercial performance and contractor management
  • Strong Networks – Has built strong formal and informal networks both internally and externally. These relationships have been drawn on to achieve successful outcomes for DTP, Government and the Community.
  • Effective Risk Management – Has applied well developed commercial management skills to manage and mitigate risk (safety, environmental, scope, financial, time and reputational) in accordance with DTP Risk Framework during the administration and management of contracts.

Key Selection Criteria

The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a highly capable Performance Advisor to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the design and delivery of strategic initiatives that improve outcomes across the transport portfolio. You'll provide performance insights, contribute to project delivery, and influence planning through evidence-based analysis.

You’ll work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to co-create solutions, facilitate dialogue, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely outcomes. This is an opportunity for someone with proven experience in translating strategy into actionable projects. You’ll understand governance, define success measures, and manage risks to maximise impact. You’ll also demonstrate strong influencing skills—building consensus, securing buy-in, and leveraging expert input to drive outcomes.

Your ability to manage stakeholders and deliver value will be essential. You’ll monitor satisfaction, manage expectations, and work constructively to resolve issues as they arise.

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

  • Qualifications in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Project Management, or related field experience

Desirable

  • Experience in managing performance outcomes
  • Experience in developing insights and visualizations
  • Proficiency in Power BI software
