Kongolia Farms is a growing family business operating a 220 sow farrow-to-finish piggery and broadacre cropping operation in the SA Murraylands.  Due to a change in circumstances, we are seeking a Piggery Attendant or Leading Hand to join our small team. 

If you have previous experience in the pork industry or enjoy working with animals, work well in a small team, are motivated and are looking for a "farm change" then this role is for you.

This full-time position involves undertaking animal husbandry practices and tasks to assist with the care and well-being of our livestock.

The role will report to the General Manager and work with other employees to:

  • Maintain a high-quality environment for the welfare and well-being of our animals

  • Maintain animal husbandry standards by ensuring that livestock are provided with food, water and vaccinations 

  • Ensure clean and hygienic housing and shelters

  • Efficiently load and move stock around the site and onto trucks 

  • Undertake breeding stock selection and matings

  • Undertake management and individual sow and piglet care within the farrowing room

  • Undertake feed milling and mixing using an automated mill

  • Undertake elective husbandry and minor surgical procedures

  • Treat sick or injured animals and administer medications when required

  • Maintain Quality Assurance standards and procedures

You are required to have a current driver’s license and availability to work overtime as well as rostered weekends and public holidays.
