Principal Software Engineer

Simpro is end-to-end field service management software for the trade and field service industry that streamlines operational workflows such as job quoting, scheduling, asset tracking, customer management, project management, reporting and more.

We're currently looking for a Principal Software Engineer to work outside of the Agile teams and work directly on the Simpro software application. You will contribute substantially to architectural, software design and engineering decisions. The role will work closely with the Director of Engineering and Engineering Managers while providing ongoing support, guidance and coaching to all engineering staff.

Ideally you will come from a strong technical background in PHP, Symfony or Laravel, AWS, Javascript, Typescript, Angular, CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, development and maintenance of Simpro's web based application(s) ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Oversee the research, development, and architectural design of engineering projects for AroFlo in consultation with stakeholders where relevant.

• Understand and explain the importance of principles of good software design and

  development.

• Define and develop Simpro coding guidelines and best coding practices.

• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in software development

  processes and practices.

• Coaching, mentoring, and training Engineers responsible for writing the

  application.

• Champion a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning

  within the engineering team.

• As part of a team you will be asked to provide input to help improve our business

  processes.
