About the Position

Reporting directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) provides leadership and strategic support to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) on the delivery of UTS 2030 and implementation of the Research Strategy. Working across the university, the PVC(R) is responsible for enhancing UTS's research performance and impact through strategic execution and coordination, research performance management, international research positioning, and research impact initiatives.

This position is a key member of UTS's PVC and Senior Leaders' groups, Academic Board and Chair of Research Operations and Strategy Committee. The successful candidate will be instrumental in promoting a strong research culture of excellence, performance, productivity and global impact within Faculties, Schools, Discipline Groups and Research Centres.

The Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will bring extensive leadership experience within research and academic settings, along with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Australian and international research and innovation sectors. You will possess excellent influencing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt, negotiate and persuade at a senior level.

This senior leadership position requires highly developed skills in communication, team building, and the ability to drive and lead cultural change in an outcomes-driven environment. You will demonstrate creativity, initiative, independent thinking and a willingness to take managed risks.

The successful candidate will possess a PhD or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge with extensive relevant experience that is the equivalent of Professorial standing. Experience in successfully leading/influencing a significant function or group in a large and complex organisation, along with research management experience in academia and/or industry is essential.
