A world-renowned energy leader is seeking a highly experienced Process Control & Automation Engineer to join the Process Automation & Systems Division within the Process and Control Systems Department.
This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad spectrum of advanced facilities—from refineries and gas plants to pipelines and petrochemical operations—while shaping global best practices in automation and digitalisation for the energy sector.

Role Overview
As a Process Control & Automation Engineer, your expertise will support the design, installation, and commissioning of advanced control systems including DCS, SIS, SCADA, and turbomachinery control. You’ll play a pivotal role in improving safety, efficiency, and cost performance across major facilities and mega-projects.

This role combines high-level technical consultation with hands-on involvement in project execution, safety analysis, and the development of engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of automation systems including DCS, SIS, SCADA, and Turbo Machinery Control across upstream and downstream facilities.
  • Conduct process control engineering for gas plants, refineries, NGL fractionation units, pipelines, and more.
  • Originate and deliver engineering studies to enhance safety, reduce costs, and optimise plant performance.
  • Provide expert input in HAZOP, SIL analyses, and Qualitative Risk Assessments.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities, review contractor qualifications, and act as a company technical representative.
  • Develop and maintain internal Engineering Standards, Specifications, and Best Practices.
  • Introduce emerging automation technologies and lead technical workshops to upskill colleagues and promote innovation.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering (Master’s or PhD preferred).
  • 20+ years of hands-on experience in automation and process control, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven track record with DCS, SIS, and other major automation platforms.
  • Experience as a lead engineer on major automation system projects, including commissioning and startup.
  • Solid background in turbine and compressor control applications.
  • Familiarity with process automation networks, communication protocols, and cybersecurity practices in control systems.
  • Active involvement in safety studies such as HAZOP and SIL analysis.
