Project Delivery Assurance - RTS HSEQ

Downer Rail & Transit Systems is seeking a passionate and driven Project Delivery Assurance to support and enhance the delivery lifecycle of critical projects across our network. In this role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring compliance, quality, and consistency in alignment with The Downer Standard’s Delivery Management Methodology . You’ll be instrumental in embedding best practices, facilitating integrated project reviews, and strengthening our Integrated Management System.

About the Role

As a Project Delivery Assurance, you will lead and coordinate project delivery reviews to ensure alignment with Downer’s delivery management standards, while providing independent analysis of project compliance, performance, and risk. You will enhance our management systems through, continuous improvement initiatives, and innovative solutions, partnering with internal teams and stakeholders to align practices, tools, and documentation across departments. Additionally, you will be maintaining and improving Delivery assurance program in collaboration with Risk and PMO team by conducting audits, organising workshops, and monitoring the progress of improvement action plans. This role also has an active participation in ISO certification and audit readiness (internal / external) and represent RTS on Downer Group committees and working groups, influencing the evolution of our systems and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive Quality, Zero Harm, Risk Management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead, support and conduct internal audits and assurance activities.
• Facilitate compliance training and awareness sessions across RTS.
• Identify and manage project and organisational risks in partnership with key stakeholders.
• Monitor system effectiveness and compliance through structured reviews and reporting.
Support process optimisation and standardisation across inter-department functions.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil) – desirable but not essential.
• Audit Qualifications (Lead Auditor is preferred)
• Project Management qualifications or equivalent experience – highly regarded.
• Practical experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining Integrated Management Systems.
• Strong knowledge of ISO standards, compliance frameworks, and risk management principles.
• Industry experience in rail, engineering, or asset-intensive environments – highly desirable.

Skills & Attributes:

• Ability to lead audits, conduct risk assessments, and implement improvement actions.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal – especially in report writing and procedure development.
• Proven ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and promote a culture of collaboration.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
