Key Responsibilities
Support the planning, design, and execution of complex recycling and bioenergy projects, including anaerobic digestion (AD), in-vessel composting (IVC), and integrated pre-/post-treatment systems.Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams (civil, structural, process, mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, fire) to ensure seamless project integration.Prepare and review engineering documentation including specifications, drawings, schedules, and reports.Support the design and layout of treatment systems, materials handling equipment, and supporting infrastructure.Assist in development of procurement packages, interface with suppliers and subcontractorsAttend site inspections, provide engineering support during construction, identify and resolve technical issuesEnsure designs and operations align with regulations, contribute to leachate, odour, and emissions management planningBring forward-thinking ideas to optimise resource recovery, circular economy outcomes and stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes
Requirements
Tertiary or Bachelor qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or related discipline such as Environmental, Process, or Mechatronics).Up to 5 years of relevant experience in an engineering workplace. Experience in waste processing, wastewater treatment, or biogas systems is highly regarded.Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Enscape, or similar).Familiarity with CAD standards, file management systems, and workflow optimisation for design documentation.Strong interest and/or understanding of the organic waste, recycling, or bioenergy sectors.Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary project teams, and independently when required.Excellent computer literacy including MS Office Suite and file management tools.Strong time management, problem-solving, and task prioritisation skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret and communicate technical concepts.Must be based in Greater Sydney and hold full Australian work rights.Current driver’s licence (optional but recommended, especially if occasional travel to regional sites is involved).
