The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is the leading advocate for surgical standards, professionalism and surgical education in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The College is a not-for-profit organisation that represents more than 8600 surgeons and 1300 surgical trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates.
RACS also supports healthcare and surgical education in the Asia-Pacific region and is a substantial funder of surgical research. There are nine surgical specialties in Australasia being: Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.
About the role
You will report to the Project Manager of the South Australian Audit of Surgical Mortality (SAASM). The audit is supported and funded by the Department for Health and Wellbeing and includes both public and private hospitals.
You will help facilitate the activities of the audit. As well as administrative duties, this will require effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders, analysis and interpretation of data collected by the audit, participation in research activities, and the drafting of reports and manuscripts as needed. Given the nature of the data being collected confidentiality will be required.
The role will be offered on a 1.0 FTE (Full Time).
Skills and Experience
As the ideal candidate you will:
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent majoring in health science.
• Understand study design, research methods, and ability to analyse and interpret data.
• Be competent in reading and understanding scientific/medical research.
• Have the ability to use Microsoft Office software, spreadsheet, database and reference management software.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
