Wagga Wagga City Council is currently seeking an experienced individual, with a background in project supervision, to oversee the delivery of the first stage of activities proposed Northern Growth Area (NGA) to meet quality, cost and schedule specifications.

In 2024, Council accepted the funding offer of $70.79 million through the NSW Government’s Accelerated Infrastructure Fund (AIF) – Round 3. Part of this funding is allocated to provide critical infrastructure to support sewer upgrades in the Northern Growth Area (NGA) and accelerate the availability of housing delivery in Wagga Wagga.

The NGA is a key residential growth area including over 900 hectares of rural land north of Wagga Wagga in Hillgrove, Charles Sturt University and Downside and connects to existing and emerging communities in Gobbagombalin, Estella and the CSU University.

Your new role:

Reporting to the Executive Manager – Major Projects this position is responsible for working in collaboration with the appointed consultants, contractors, project managers and stakeholders to provide supervision for the delivery of the first stage activities in the Northern Growth Area, to meet quality, cost, and schedule specifications. Working closely with key stakeholders across Council, business partners, and within the community, the position has an important role to develop confidence of Council’s ability to achieve its stated strategic goals.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Direct supervision of consultants works associated with the Northern Growth Area Structure Plan ensuring defined performance, financial and timeframe requirements are achieved using project management tools, methodologies, and best practice.
  • Liaise and work closely with consultants and Council’s staff, ensuring all works are delivered as per contract documents within project timeframes safely and correctly.
  • Liaise with the consultant to respond to requests for information and timely provision of information and artifacts requested by the consultant.
  • Monitor performance of the consultant to ensure that program milestones and critical dates are being maintained and met.
  • Provide updates, advice and decision-support to Council's internal project committees, the Director, Manager, Project Sponsor(s), and external stakeholders on project performance.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS responsibilities as defined in the safety management plans, conduct weekly and monthly WHS safety audits, conduct WHS toolbox and on-site safety meetings, and ensure closure of issues identified through safety audits.
  • Identify and assess critical project issues and risks, identify construction details/problems, safety and environmental issues, and provide advice, solutions and expertise to the Project Managers.
  • Negotiate and strategically influence key internal and external stakeholders to broker agreements and facilitate project outcomes.

As the successful applicant, you will:

  • Demonstrated experience relevant to the role including a minimum of five (5) years’ experience;
  • Class C Driver’s Licence; and
  • General Construction Induction Training Card
