Position Overview:

D&T Refrigeration Services is seeking a highly motivated and skilled full-time, fully qualified Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of refrigeration and air conditioning systems. This role requires a strong understanding of HVAC/R principles, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities:

• Install new refrigeration and air conditioning systems and components according to specifications and relevant codes.

• Perform routine maintenance and preventative servicing on various HVAC/R systems.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

• Repair or replace defective parts, components, and wiring.

• Conduct performance testing and adjustments to ensure systems are operating efficiently and effectively.

• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.

• Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations.

• Communicate effectively with clients regarding the status of work and provide technical explanations as needed.

• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working order.

• Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and best practices.

• Potentially mentor or assist less experienced technicians.

• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours service as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Must hold a relevant and current trade qualification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (e.g., Certificate III in Air-conditioning and Refrigeration).

• Proven experience (typically X years, specify if you have a preference) in the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC/R principles, refrigerants, electrical systems, and control systems.

• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

• Current and valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

• ARC Tick (Australian Refrigeration Council) license.

• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.  

Requirements

• Currently undertaking Cert III (or higher) in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration at a Victorian RTO

• ARC Trainee Refrigerant Handling Licence (we can help with this application)

• No criminal convictions

• Current Victorian Driver's probationary or full licence
