We're looking for someone with event and festival experience to lead our South Australian operations - someone who knows that being in events means every day is different. You're excited by the variety where some days you're in the office working on the finer planning and scheduling details the next you're in the yard or on site working side by side with your team.

The Role

As Regional Operations Manager, you'll lead our SA operations, combining management and leadership with hands-on work. You'll be driven by exceeding our customers' needs and continually helping to make the business operate more smoothly.

This role splits roughly into these domains:

35% State Operations [planning, scheduling, yard operations]

30% Team Management

25% Event Delivery [In the yard or on site, getting your hands dirty]

10% Customer Management [Site visits, scoping events, calls, emails]

From coordinating major music festivals to managing the maintenance of our equipment and vehicles, you'll ensure every aspect of our operation runs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing a small team including drivers, yard hands and cleaning staff

  • Coordinating staff scheduling and resource allocation

  • Job and transport scheduling

  • Managing event delivery from planning to execution and post-event analysis

  • Conducting staff training and development

  • Overseeing equipment cleaning, repair and maintenance

  • Maintain customer relationships and handle site visits

  • Driving operational improvements and efficiencies

  • Ensuring safety compliance and documentation for the team, yard environment, equipment and vehicles

  • Participating in hands-on work

  • Handle emergency response when needed

Day to Day

  • Planning resources and rosters for upcoming weeks

  • Reviewing runsheet and updating details to ensure all relevant staff know exactly what's required for upcoming events and yard work

  • Training casual cleaning staff, supervising and QA testing their work and providing feedback and guidance

  • Site visit to advise a customer on solutions for their upcoming event

  • Ensuring trucks are loaded for maximum efficiency

  • Helping to unload trucks post-event and moving equipment into place to ensure an efficient work area

  • Calling major customers to confirm final event details prior to bump in

  • Delegating repair works for returned equipment and invoicing customers for damages

Ideal Experience and Capabilities:

  • Experience and track record in event operations, particularly festivals and major events

  • Management skills with experience managing and communicating with blue collar teams

  • Comfortable using a computers and various software tools, this will only increase for this role

  • Real mechanical aptitude and hands-on capability

  • Organised with an attention to detail

  • Solid understanding of event industry safety standards

  • Site operations and logistics expertise

  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines

  • Customer relationship management skills

About Us

Viking Events is a leader in portable toilet, shower and hydration solutions for events across Victoria and South Australia. We've built our business on reliability and practical solutions, with a focus on making our customers' lives easier. We're growing and looking to strengthen our operations in SA.

What We Offer:

  • The chance to shape operations in a growing business

  • A straight-talking, no-nonsense work environment

  • Direct access to business owners

  • The satisfaction of seeing your work make immediate impact

The Reality Check:

This isn't your standard 9-5 role. Event season (October-April) means early starts, late finishes, and weekend work. If this role appeals to you, you no doubt love the events industry and all the chaos it entails. You'll need to be comfortable with the physical demands of the job and be ready to step in wherever needed.

We're a growing company with a focus on continually streamlining and improving systems and our service - you'll have the opportunity to help shape our future operations.

If you understand that sometimes leadership means driving or loading a truck as much as delivering a smooth event bump In and you're ready to roll up your sleeves with a team that values getting the job done right, we want to hear from you.

How to Apply:

Send your resume and a cover letter explaining why your blend of leadership and hands-on experience makes you perfect for this role. Include examples of events you've managed and teams you've led.
