About the Role
This is a Line 1 Risk Manager role, responsible for supporting the GM of Risk and Quality in strengthening the risk culture and driving continuous improvement in the management and ownership of risk and assurance practices within the Workers Compensation function. and icare’s key control environment.

Duties
It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as a Risk and Assurance Manager you will:
- Establish and oversee Workers Compensation Risk profiles and verify and deliver the effectiveness of controls within the Workers Compensation Risk profile, by contributing to the design, execution and reporting of control and assurance activities to ensure the function is working within internal and external frameworks (SIRA).
- Lead and enhance the Workers Compensation Controls and Assurance plan, based on the Risk profile and compliance obligations. This includes risks, controls, incidents, issues and outstanding/closed actions.
- Provide advice and guidance to the Senior leadership team and other stakeholders on risk and the remediation of audit findings, issues and ineffective controls, including facilitation of assurance workshops and leadership of relevant governance committees.
- Establish operational work plans and delegate activities to team members and monitor performance, operational effectiveness and delivery of strategic objectives.
- Provide oversight and make recommendations such as independent reviews, engaging and briefing external service providers to support the business as appropriate.
- Develop, maintain and monitor the third-party risk management framework for the Workers Compensation service line including ICF updates, CSP ICF assurance management and third-party risk management reviews.
Skills & Experience
- Formal qualifications (bachelors or masters degree) in management, business, or finance
- Experience within insurance/ Workers Compensation/ Personal Injury or related industry highly regarded.
- Well-developed understanding of business risk, mitigation and assurance strategies
- Experience in preparing Risk reports for senior management
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Exposure to Risk in Change for projects
- Ability to engage in a collaborative manner with senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Leadership and team development experience.
