The key duties of the position include:

The Role
The APS 6 Security Advisor position is responsible for managing and maintaining the security of information and physical environments in accordance with relevant policy and doctrine. Situated within 87 Squadron (87SQN) at RAAF Amberley, this position will execute Security Officer (SO) and Communications Intelligence Security Officer (COMSO) duties for 87SQN personnel and Protective Security Zones 2-4 located at RAAF Base Amberley.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of facility access, accreditation and compliance;
  • Management of personnel security clearances, compartments and programs;
  • Defence security policy and governance advisor to 87SQN staff and command team;
  • Management of Security incidents and investigations.

The Working Environment will include:
  • Computer use;
  • Sitting at desk;
  • Distance walking (i.e. large building or inter-building transit).

About our Team
87SQN comprises a headquarters and training flight located at RAAF Base Williamtown; and ten Tactical Intelligence Flights (TIFs) located across six Royal Australian Air Force operational bases within Australia. Collectively, we enable air power through the provision of mission intelligence to RAAF and the integrated force in order to fight and win in war.

Eligibility

Security Clearance:
Prior to commencement, successful applicants will be required to undergo a psychological assessment and an extensive security clearance process. As a Positive Vetting clearance is required, applicants must be Australian Citizens; be able to account for their personal background for their whole life; and be able to demonstrate suitability to work in a high security intelligence environment.
