Your impact

We are expanding our APAC Energy & Power Generation team in Sydney with a particular focus on Renewables and BESS projects. We are seeking a motivated Senior Associate Electrical Engineer to support market development and guide our regional team in the technical capabilities as Owner’s Engineer and Lender’s Technical Advisor.

As a Senior Associate Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing technical renewable energy advisory services for our key clients in the APAC region. You will undertake conceptual design and due diligence for renewable energy plants, prepare feasibility studies, and establish technical specifications and tender documents. Additionally, you will be involved in construction-phase site inspections, quality reporting, and progress reviews of operational sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Guide Teams: Facilitate renewable energy project delivery, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to ensure technical excellence.
  • Develop Technical Capabilities: Enhance the regional team’s expertise, coach and mentor less experienced staff, ensuring they can effectively serve as Owner’s Engineer and Lender’s Technical Advisor.
  • Coordinate and Collaborate: Work closely with other disciplines and project managers to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Design and Review: Lead and manage design and engineering services, perform independent design review and assurance tasks to maintain high standards of technical quality.
  • Technical Advisory and Due Diligence: Provide expert advisory services and conduct thorough due diligence for renewable energy projects.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Manage QA procedures, including tender evaluations and technical recommendations.
  • Feasibility and Documentation: Prepare feasibility studies, technical specifications, and tender documents to support project development.
  • Site Inspections and Performance Reviews: Conduct construction-phase site inspections and review operational site performance to ensure project success.
  • Business Development: Engage in activities to grow the business, including scoping and pricing work, and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Promote Safety and Collaboration: Foster a safety culture and encourage cross-geography collaboration to maximise global delivery benefits.

Here's what you'll need

  • A tertiary qualification in electrical engineering.
  • Professional Registration/Accreditation such as Chartered, RPEQ, RPEV (or working towards it).
  • Significant professional experience in renewable energy consulting.
  • Extensive experience with HV, Substations, Utility scale solar, wind, BESS and thermal projects, ideally in a design, construction, and/or consultancy environment.
  • Proven experience in project development and delivery for large, complex projects.
  • Experience in plant commissioning (R2).
  • Strong technical leadership and communication skills.
  • Proven track record in business development and client relationship management.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g. UL9540) and industry practices
