At MerchantSpring, we’re empowering global marketplace agencies and service providers with deep, actionable analytics. Our SaaS platform processes millions of data points daily to surface the insights that drive performance across Amazon and other marketplaces.
We're now embarking on a transformative journey—bringing our core data infrastructure in-house. This isn’t just a migration. It’s an opportunity to design, build, and scale a PostgreSQL-powered platform that delivers the control, performance, and reliability our business demands.
We’re looking for a Senior DevOps & Database Engineer to lead this technical evolution—taking full ownership of our infrastructure from day one. You’ll also support a smaller footprint of MongoDB/NoSQL services and work hand-in-hand with our product and engineering teams.
What You’ll DoArchitect and build a self-managed PostgreSQL infrastructure with high performance, high availability, and scale in mind.Lead the transition from managed hosting to fully self-hosted environments, with robust observability and disaster recovery practices.Implement best practices across monitoring, backup, replication, and optimization.Build deployment workflows using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines.Optimize database performance using partitioning, indexing, and time-series strategies.Provide operational support for MongoDB/NoSQL systems used across ancillary features and future projects.Partner with backend engineers on schema design, query performance, and scaling challenges.Participate in incident response and on-call rotations.
What You BringDeep expertise in PostgreSQL, including performance tuning, analytics workloads, and large-scale operation.Hands-on experience with time-series extensions such as TimescaleDB (hypertables, continuous aggregates, compression).Proven leadership in infrastructure build-outs or migrations, especially from managed to self-hosted.Strong skills across AWS, Linux-based systems, and DevOps automation.Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Terraform, configuration tools like Ansible, and containerization with Docker.Scripting ability (Bash, Python, or similar).Operational knowledge of MongoDB, including replication and sharding strategies.Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, pgHero, and pg_stat_statements.
Why You’ll Love ItOwn the future of our platform’s data architecture from the ground up.Tackle large-scale analytics and ingestion challenges in a modern SaaS environment.Work closely with a senior, collaborative team solving real-world commerce problems.Enjoy a flexible, hybrid work culture with Melbourne preferred but remote an option for outstanding candidates.
