About the Role

Mackay Sugar has a permanent opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our on-site Projects, Maintenance and Production Teams at Mackay Sugar. Reporting to the Group Principal Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting multiple activities throughout the delivery lifecycle.  This includes designing safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective solutions, providing timely engineering advice and concessions, identifying root causes of issues across our mills, and managing technical risks and opportunities with internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion WHS and environmental objectives, fostering a strong safety and environmental culture.
• Drive productivity and profitability improvements through leadership and technical support in power distribution and process control.
• Develop and implement strategic approaches to electrical maintenance and strategy development.
• Manage operating, maintenance, and capital programs effectively to optimize asset utilization.
• Preserve, maintain, and update technical assets (drawings, manuals, investigation records, program code, etc.) through robust systems.

Minimum Requirements: To qualify, you must have one of the following:

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical or relevant Engineering steams (bachelor’s degree or higher) with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in industrial engineering;
• Full Working Rights in Australia

OR

• An Electrical/Instrumentation trade certification with at least five (5) years of industrial engineering experience, applicants who are currently pursuing tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded (associate degree or higher).

In addition, both pathways necessitate:

• Proficiency in Electrical Acts, Codes of Practice, and Standards.
• Capability in High Voltage Switching and Coordination, or the potential to achieve this.
• Reasonable exposure to Process Control Systems, including PLCs and DCSs SCADA software, Networking, and Instrumentation.
• Strong computer literacy with proficiency in engineering application.
