Bellevue Gold Limited (ASX:BGL) is a high-grade gold mine in Western Australia. The Bellevue mine has a forecasted 10+ year mine life producing over 200,000 Au Ozs for the first five years of production. Construction of the mill has recently been completed, with first gold pour completed in CY Q4 2023.

Underground mining has occurred since late 2020 to establish multiple mining fronts that de-risks the project in advance of underground production. The operation is an industry stand out with strong financial and ESG metrics underpinned by the exceptional grade of the project.

The Bellevue Gold Project is located approximately 30km north of Leinster township and sits in a major gold and nickel producing district. The Company has a highly skilled management team with a track record of exploration success and development of major gold mines.

You will be responsible for the effective coordination of all mining related geotechnical issues within the mine to achieve budgeted production, meeting all quality standards including cost, safety and environment.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Consistently demonstrate and reflect behaviours, actions and attitudes in line with the company’s Vision and Values.  Actively building a professional image for the company by promoting its interests in the community.
  • Adhere with and contribute to the Company’s policies, systems and procedures relating to HR, OH&S and Environment to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the company.  Actively participating in initiatives; toolbox meetings; investigations and training.  Correct and/or report safety and environmental hazards when identified to mitigate risk and reduce the occurrence of incidents and/or injury by investigation.
  • Ensure good maintenance of company assets by conducting regular pre-start inspections, carrying out minor maintenance notifying appropriate personnel in the appropriate manner when observing items requiring service, calibration or repair.
  • Daily production tasks relating to geotechnical engineering including development plans, blasting plans, documentation of inspections and data collection, geotechnical monitoring, stability analysis, recommendations and QAQC.
  • Communication of the geotechnical aspects of mining to the workforce and management.
  • Conduct and partake medium term projects as required by the mine to ensure mine wide or slope stability.  Collect and analysis geotechnical parameters to ensure future mining recommendations are forthcoming when required.
  • Capable of running geotechnical aspects of a mine with some input from other senior staff.  Undertaking work for medium term requirements of mine.
  • Provide a geotechnical service to the mine through understanding, complying, mentoring and liaising with business partners to promote full statutory compliance with mining regulations, legislation and company safety objectives relevant to ground conditions.
  • Actively identifying and managing of geotechnical risks and the development of systems to monitor and manage these.  Develop and maintain an understanding of excavation design, planning, geological and operational issues to identify and communicate potential opportunities and concerns.
  • Contribute to the ongoing success of existing mining operations by reviewing current monitoring systems, making recommendations that will ensure adequate ground control as the depth of the mine increases, consulting with group geotechnical expertise as appropriate.
  • Collect and analyse geotechnical data including effective recognition, investigation, analysis of rock fall events and ground control issues.  Updating and reporting on the rock fall, slope monitoring and seismic databases where applicable.
  • Ensure that geotechnical feasibility contributions are of the highest quality by determining design parameters, modelling and advising on the most appropriate mine design and sequence.
  • Ensure thorough mine planning practices by advising and assisting engineers in making recommendations on geotechnical issues pertaining to mine design, planning and operations as required.
  • Oversee the activities of geotechnical personnel in carrying out daily work plans ensuring that their activities are consistently aligned with meeting operational targets.  Conducting regular inspections and audits of open pit and underground mines specifically checking compliance of established standards and procedures in relation to ground control issues.
  • Mentoring to provide regular, constructive feedback aimed at improving performance, development and engagement.  Effective use of the Performance Management System.
  • Oversee the activities of geotechnical personnel such as graduates, cadets and technicians in carrying out daily work, ensuring that their activities are consistently aligned and comply with of established standards and procedures in relation to ground control issues.
  • Enhance the capability of the technical services team by providing production coverage, assisting less experienced personnel as required particularly applying supervision with new projects where geotechnical success is critical.
  • Interaction with geotechnical engineers to share knowledge and mentoring.  Actively partaking in professional development.  Developing people skills and self management for supervising and working with a team.

Key Skills/Qualifications/Experience/Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering or Geology with Post Graduate qualifications in geomechanics.
  • Experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Experience in underground hard rock mining.
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory obligations.
  • Well-developed time management skills – ability to manage and priorities several tasks at once.
  • Well-developed communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong, logical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
