Through the partnership with key internal and external stakeholders this role will support the Westpac Group’s legal and risk strategy by influencing, negotiating and consulting. Our legal advice is accurate, timely, cost effective and commercial.
You will provide legal advice and support to WIB’s Corporate & Institutional Banking (“CIB”) Line of Business. Your primary focus will be on the Specialised Finance products in CIB, but the demands of the business (and CIB Legal’s response to that demand) may require you to support other CIB legal areas, including lending to specified industry sectors. What do I need?
We’d expect you to have extensive and proven legal experience in a law firm or financial services organisation (5+ years PQE) across institutional lending, ideally across a range of sectors and with demonstrated expertise and competence. Experience in securitisation and structured finance will be most relevant, but experience in trade finance, project finance, acquisition finance or asset would also be beneficial. You’ll have a growth mindset and a willingness to learn about other areas within the Bank. You will be proactive and well versed in understanding how businesses operate and applying your legal expertise and commercial judgement.
Why join us?
We’re obsessed with becoming our customers' #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we’re already doing that:
We’re all about creating a supportive and inclusive community. We welcome everyone – no matter your age, gender, background, or abilities. We also provide additional support to welcome our veterans, Indigenous Australians and neurodiverse community.
