About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity exist for a dynamic and accomplished Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team and provide supervision of scientist and leadership across the cytogenetics, molecular genetics and genomics testing programs within the Randwick Genomics Laboratory at the Prince of Wales Hospital. You will be part of the management team, working alongside the Laboratory Manager and Pathologist Staff.
Prince of Wales Hospital is located in Randwick, Sydney, providing excellent healthcare to South Eastern Sydney and specialist health and medical services across NSW.
What we can offer you
What you'll be doingResponsible for the management of scientific, technical and support staff, all testing and associated activities and logistics for the assigned laboratory. They are typically responsible for day-to-day supervision of testing, validation of complex reports, identification of results requiring urgent action or referral to the pathologist and providing scientific laboratory advice to clinicians. They play a key role in regulatory compliance and quality management, supervision of quality improvement activities, instrument and method selection, validation and ongoing monitoring. Many are involved in translational research and the evaluation or development of new assays and bringing these into clinical use in collaboration with pathologists and other clinicians.
