THE ROLE

Applications are sought from experienced Senior Mine Underground Geologists to join the team at Ora Banda.

The responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Coordinate all geological activities for the mining operation and in particular grade control, with an emphasis on high quality work and industry best-practice methods
  • Supervision of orebody mining – maximising recovery, minimising dilution
  • Supervision/management of grade control and UG Resource Definition drill programs
  • Updating of lithological, structural wireframes and resource domains
  • Running and updating of GC Block Model
  • Maintaining and implementing QA/QC procedures in the areas of data collection, sampling, sample preparation and production data
  • Maintain production database, drillhole database, and stope tracking systems
  • Ensure all capital development and ore development walls and backs are mapped and sampled, to ensure regulatory compliance, monitor geotechnical conditions, and build the knowledge base of the deposit
  • Along with the Engineering and Mining teams, ensure the best possible stope designs to maximise recovery, minimise dilution, and compilation of quality Stope Notes
  • Ensure all ore development faces are adequately marked up for the Mining team, with clear written instructions from Geology and/or Survey
  • Seek opportunities for growth through Resource Development drill programs which increase the life of mine
  • Compile end of month reconciliation data to support the Geology Manager, and provide assistance with analysis of reconciliation trends
  • Oversee high quality technical reporting in the compilation of daily grade reports, weekly and monthly reporting
  • Assist with engineering/planning and surveying requirements
  • Stockpile management from the mine to the Mine Ore Pad (MOP), to the Run Of Mine (ROM) pad
  • Liaise with Mining team and drilling contractor to coordinate drilling activities in the underground environment
  • Provide technical and management support for the site management team
  • Contribute to short and long-term mine planning
  • Mentor and train Project Geologists, Mine Geologists and Graduate Geologists
ABOUT YOU
To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:  
  • Bachelor Science (Geology)
  • Member AusIMM or AIG
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience including at least 3 in underground gold mining
  • Skilled in mining software –Leapfrog, Acquire, Deswik
  • Exposure to current grade control technologies and practices
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Demonstrable team working skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation
  • Class C WA manual driver’s licence
