Position Title: Senior Project Accountant Location: Sydney, NSW Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 + Super + 20% Bonus Reports To: GM of Finance About The Company Our client is a purpose-driven energy organisation committed to leading communities into a zero-carbon future. Accounting and Financial Records Maintain timely and accurate financial records for asset development subsidiaries, joint ventures, and minority-held investment platformsDistinguish between Capex and Opex; ensure eligible costs are capitalised appropriatelyManage lease accounting for land lease agreementsUpdate loan balances, including interest and fees, after facility drawdownsPerform derivative accounting (interest rate swaps, foreign currency forward contracts)Eliminate related-party transactions in consolidated reportingManage revenue and cost recognition after project commercialisationMonitor loan covenants and maintain fixed/intangible asset registers 2. Budgeting and Forecasting Support preparation of project Capex budgets and annual platform budgetsCollaborate with project teams to monitor progress and update cost-to-complete forecastsConduct monthly budget vs actual analyses and report on risk areas 3. Reporting and Audit Prepare regular financial reports for stakeholders including banks and equity partnersSupport annual audits and assist with consolidated financial statementsPrepare trust account reports for project entities and platforms 4. Loan and Financing Support Review payment requests and invoices submitted by project teamsAssist with loan applications, drawdowns, and communications with financial institutionsSupport upcoming project financing and refinancing efforts 5. Tax and Compliance Assist in project-related tax matters including GST, corporate income tax, and CGTSupport claims for R&D tax incentives related to renewable initiatives, with external advisors 6. Other Project Support Participate in future asset acquisition and development activitiesContribute to finance team process improvements and system implementationProvide support on ad-hoc financial tasks and strategic initiatives Experience 8-10 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, with 3-5 years in project accounting or a related functionExperience in project accounting within infrastructure, development, or related industriesKnowledge of trust accounting, financial reporting standards, and project tax complianceUnderstanding of Capex/Opex classification, revenue recognition, borrowing costs, and lease accountingExperience with Xero or similar accounting software; ERP implementation experience is beneficialFamiliarity with R&D tax incentive processes is advantageous Key Attributes Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial processesEffective communication and ability to present information clearly and professionallyAbility to manage time and meet deadlines in a structured and organised mannerCapacity to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholdersCommitment to continuous learning and adherence to professional standards How to Apply To apply for this opportunity, please submit your CV outlining your relevant experience and qualifications for the role.
