About the Role

Join our team as a Smoke Alarm Inspector, ensuring rental properties comply with Victorian Government regulations, including Smoke Alarm Compliance and Rental Minimum Standards. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the safety of tenants and maintaining legal compliance for rental properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct smoke alarm inspections in rental properties in line with the 12-month compliance requirement.

  • Test, maintain, and replace smoke alarms and batteries as needed.

  • Identify and report any non-compliance issues related to smoke alarm placement and rental minimum standards.

  • Document inspections and compliance status using provided tools and software.

  • Ensure clear communication with property managers and landlords regarding compliance and necessary follow-ups.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to quickly grasp regulations related to smoke alarm installation and compliance.

  • No formal licensing is required for this role (you do not need to be an electrician)

  • A proactive approach to safety and compliance.

  • Ideally, previous experience with smoke alarm testing and maintenance.

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently while maintaining high standards.

Job Type: Full-Time

  • Standard workweek: Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM

  • Consistent workload throughout the year with a stable schedule.

Essential Equipment & Requirements

  • A reliable vehicle capable of transporting a ladder. (your own vehicle with vehicle allowance paid)

  • A sturdy A-frame ladder (preferably fibreglass) to reach 3-metre ceilings. (Checkhero can supply)

  • A valid driver’s licence.
